Role Summary

Are you an experienced engineer who thrives on building scalable, high-performance applications that transform healthcare? AdvancedMD is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions that power the future of medical practice software, enabling providers to deliver better, faster care.

As a Software Engineer, you will leverage your expertise with C#, SQL, cloud technologies, and service-oriented architecture to develop, and maintain solutions that streamline medical billing workflows and ensure compliance with healthcare standards. In addition to these contributions related to traditional EDI solutions, you will play a key role in helping to integrate AI-driven agentic systems to automate complex processes, enhance decision-making, and improve operational efficiency. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment and contribute to peer code reviews.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications in accordance with project requirements using Agile processes
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications and services in accordance with project requirements using Agile processes
  • Help implement AI-powered agentic workflows that autonomously handle repetitive tasks, resolve exceptions, and optimize billing cycles
  • Build and optimize RESTful APIs and enterprise-grade backend solutions with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and best practices are followed
  • Collaborate closely with architects, product owners, and other engineers on design, planning, and technical solutions
  • Maintain accountability for high-quality, reliable, and well-documented code
  • Engage in ongoing process improvements in development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and team practices
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and propose solutions for application performance, observability, and scalability challenges
  • Actively participate in regular Agile ceremonies (planning, grooming, stand-ups, retrospectives, etc.)
  • Continuously learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance backend development practices

What You'll Need to Get the Job Done:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business / Management Information Systems, or related field (experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional web development experience with a focus on backend engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years in enterprise development (CI/CD, Multitenant SaaS, performance, scalability, observability, and ownership)
  • Proven experience building RESTful services in C#
  • Strong experience with SQL / T-SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities
  • Proven team collaboration and Agile development experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

What Will Make us LOVE You

  • Experience in EDI development (X12, 837, 835, 270/271 transactions).
  • Hands-on experience with AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI API) and building agentic systems that interact with APIs, databases, and external services.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering, orchestration of multi-step AI workflows, and integration of LLMs into enterprise applications.
  • 3+ years building REST APIs or other enterprise web services
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, EKS, Docker, Grafana, or other containerization and monitoring technologies
  • Experience with web security best practices
  • Proficiency with Agile development, Git, and CI/CD practices
  • Experience with Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Azure DevOps, and Visual Studio (a plus)

Work Environment

  • Hybrid office arrangement to start in the South Jordan, Utah office location, with option to work remotely available. Remote work is contingent upon individual role, team structure and alignment to role KPIs.
