Position Description:

Job Summary:CDL Class A & B Driver

The CDL Vehicle Operator is the professional, customer-focused representative of Mustang Expediting, responsible for the safe, timely pickup and delivery of materials, equipment, and freight. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the driver must follow all traffic laws, company policies, safety procedures, and Mustangs F.O.C.U.S. principles. Responsibilities include long-distance driving, loading/unloading cargo, completing delivery documentation, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, conducting daily inspections, reporting issues, planning routes, and maintaining excellent customer service. Drivers must hold a valid CDL (A or B), maintain current medical certification and MVR, have a clean driving record, and possess experience, reliability, adaptability, and strong safety awareness. Performance is measured through safety, equipment care, and productivity.

Key responsibilities:

• Safety & Compliance: Safely operate commercial vehicles on highways and local roads while adhering to all traffic laws, posted speed limits, company policies, and DOT regulations, while maintaining a clean driving record.
• Vehicle Inspections: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking the trucks mechanical condition, lights, tires, brakes, and cargo securement equipment.
• Cargo Handling: Secure cargo using approved methods (chains, binders, straps, covers, etc.) and assist with lunloading when needed to ensure product stability and safety.
• Documentation & Logs: Accurately maintain required DOT and company documentation, including driver logs, delivery records, fuel logs, and trip paperwork.
• Communication: Maintain consistent communication with dispatch to receive instructions, report delays or issues, and provide location and delivery updates.
• Maintenance Reporting: Identify, document, and promptly report any mechanical or safety concerns to maintenance and Operations for timely resolution.

Qualifications:

• Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Drivers License
• Current Medical Examiners Certificate
• Minimum of 2 years CDL-A or CDL-B driving experience preferred
• No more than two (2) total accidents, regardless of fault
• No Type A violations
• No more than three (3) total combined accidents and Type B violations
• Knowledge of DOT safety regulations, Hours-of-Service rules, and safety standards
• Clean MVR
• Ability to drive long distances and adapt to changing road, traffic, or weather conditions
• Experience using GPS and related electronic equipment (AVL, ELD, etc.)
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and positive customer-service attitude
• Willingness to submit to background checks and drug screening
• Ability to work independently, demonstrate good judgment, and consistently model Mustangs F.O.C.U.S. values
• Ability to unload, and properly secure cargo
