Overview

This is a great opportunity for students, recent graduates, or career-changers who love animals and want hands-on experience in animal care, rescue operations, and teamwork. No prior kennel experience is required What matters most is reliability, a strong work ethic, and compassion for animals.

As a Kennel Assistant, you'll play an essential role in supporting the daily care and well-being of dogs in our rescue facility while gaining practical, transferable skills.

What You'll Learn

• Safe dog handling and basic behavior observation
• Daily animal care routines used in professional rescue settings
• Working as part of a structured team following clear protocols
• Time management, responsibility, and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
• Exposure to animal welfare, rescue operations, and shelter best practices

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily care including feeding, cleaning, and enrichment
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized kennel environment
• Observe dogs' behavior and report changes to senior staff
• Follow established safety and care protocols
• Assist with laundry, dishes, and general facility upkeep
• Support staff with intake prep, transport support, or special care needs as directed
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting food bags and supplies

Compensation

• Starting at $16.50/hour
• Hours based on availability and operational needs
