Job Purpose
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager this position is responsible for managing all the purchasing activities. It is responsible for maintaining effective and cost-efficient purchasing systems as well as positive supplier relationships; will summarize and report progress and/or roadblocks to management and will also be responsible for balancing supply and demand; will work on special projects and monitoring purchase orders to ensure on time delivery.

Essential Functions And Other Duties
Purchase finished goods and parts based on the balance of supply and demand in an ERP/MRP environment

Develop and maintain daily capacity information on factories, determine shipping schedules, follow up with factory issues, manage shipping dates, maintain factory forecasts.

Coordinate point of entry (POE) and direct import (DI) orders

Work with and balance needs of multiple departments on all purchasing related issues (Sales, Marketing, Inventory Control, Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehousing, etc.)

Support decision making functions of planning and procurement

Participate in project teams involving business processes implementation, documentation, and analysis

Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Strong analytical skills, including utilization of Microsoft Excel

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines under pressure in fast-paced environment

Strong organizational & communication skills with high attention to detail.

Strong desire for increased responsibility

Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft/JD Edwards or other leading ERP/MRP system

Experience With Chinese Sourcing Preferred
Experience with point of entry orders (POE)

Education And Experience
1-3 years of Purchasing or Planning experience

Associate degree or equivalent work experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

Fast paced, professional office environment which can be hectic and busy with changing priorities

Extended hours may be necessary to meet deadlines
