Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance on all production equipment, facility systems, and infrastructure at a commercial bakery. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports safe and efficient food manufacturing operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & Repair
· Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on mixers, ovens, conveyors, packaging machinery, and other production equipment.
· Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce equipment failures and improve overall uptime.
· Install, adjust, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Facility Maintenance
· Maintain building systems including light HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and electrical circuits.
· Inspect the facility and recommend repairs or improvements as needed.
· Assist with building upgrades, renovations, and equipment moves.
Safety & Compliance
· Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and food safety regulations (FDA, SQF, GMPs).
· Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment documentation.
· Support audits by ensuring maintenance records and equipment conditions meet industry standards.
Operational Support
· Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
· Collaborate with production supervisors to prioritize maintenance needs.
· Train operators on basic equipment care and safe operation practices when required.
QualificationsRequired
· High school diploma or GED.
· 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (food manufacturing preferred).
· Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
· Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Preferred but not required
· Experience with food production equipment and packaging machinery.
· Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and automation systems.
· HVAC or electrical certification.
· OSHA safety training.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
· Comfortable working in various temperature environments (coolers, production areas, ovens).

Work Schedule
Full-time; may require occasional weekends, early-morning, or evening shifts depending on production needs.
