Paralegal – Birch Bay Law Group

Overview

Birch Bay Law Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to support attorneys in a fast-paced, client-focused law practice. This role supports matters involving family law, estate planning and probate, landlord-tenant disputes, civil litigation, and related transactional work. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational discipline, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

This position is integral to the firm's daily operations and offers meaningful exposure to substantive legal work in a collaborative, in-office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other approved research tools.
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and proofreading pleadings, correspondence, declarations, contracts, and related legal documents.
  • Maintain and manage case files using the firm's case and document management systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and organize filings for court, hearings, mediations, and client meetings.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in case management and billing systems.
  • Support attorneys with case coordination, deadline tracking, and project management.
  • Assist with discovery, document review, and trial or hearing preparation in litigation matters.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and third parties under attorney direction.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including file organization, calendaring, and scheduling.

Requirements

  • Prior paralegal experience in a law firm or legal services environment.
  • Working knowledge of Washington court procedures and filing practices preferred.
  • Familiarity with practice areas such as family law, estate planning and probate, landlord-tenant law, and general civil litigation.
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms including Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Experience with legal case management and document management systems.
  • Strong drafting, proofreading, and document review skills with close attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional phone etiquette.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team-based practice.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $ $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
