The Role: Sales Manager
We are looking for a Sales Manager who can drive revenue growth, develop and manage our sales operations, and build strong customer relationships by creating a structured and effective sales approach within our business. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage sales activity across all areas of the business, including both small and large unit sales Act as the first point of contact for customers in the showroom, delivering a professional and customer‑focused sales experience Carry out customer visits and on‑site product demonstrations to support and close sales Manage the full sales pipeline from initial enquiry through to handover and aftersales transition Fully utilise the CRM system to record enquiries, manage leads, and follow up sales opportunities Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve targets and identify new business opportunities Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and prospective clients Handle inbound sales enquiries via phone, email, and in person Work closely with the Marketing Manager to create targeted sales approaches for specific customer groups Develop strong product knowledge and become an expert in the machines and services offered Track sales performance against targets and report on activity, trends, and results Monitor competitor activity to identify risks and opportunities Work with the Finance Manager to ensure accurate pricing, quotations, margin control, and forecasting Represent CGM at trade events, shows, open days, and manufacturer events to generate new leads Gather customer feedback to help improve sales processes and the overall customer experience A Successful Candidate Will Have
A commercial or sales‑related qualification, or equivalent experience Proven experience in a sales‑focused role, ideally within machinery, automotive, agricultural, or a similar sector Strong communication skills with the ability to understand customer needs and build long‑term trust Confidence in building rapport, negotiating deals, and closing sales A proactive, driven, and results‑focused mindset with the ability to work independently Enjoyment of face‑to‑face selling alongside phone and digital sales conversations Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple leads and priorities Experience using CRM systems to track leads, customer interactions, and sales performance Strategic thinking to align sales activity with wider business objectives Willingness to learn and develop expert knowledge of our products and industry A professional approach to customer service, with good timekeeping and a strong work ethic Company pension scheme Christmas shutdown 20 days holiday + bank holidays rising to 25 days holiday 24‑hour GP/mental health support line Eye test vouchers/cycle to work scheme Paid time off for appointments Refreshments & Tea and coffee making facilities
