Engineers at MongoDB collaborate in delivering a one-of-a-kind, cloud‑scale, high‑performance developer data platform. The Correctness Team is part of the developer productivity group and designs, implements, integrates, and maintains testing infrastructure tooling, frameworks, and strategies to ensure engineers deploy products with the highest correctness and quality.

We’re looking for an individual who has deep empathy for engineering teams, cares strongly about quality code and products, and effectively scales development. If you are passionate about distributed systems testing, elegant and robust software design, and improving the developer feedback loop, this role is for you.

This role can be based out of our Toronto office or worked remotely in the Ontario region.

Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years hands‑on experience with Python (or related language) programming in industry
  • Experience in developer productivity or related infrastructure‑focused role
  • Strong experience and knowledge of testing techniques focused on distributed systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in solid UX‑focused design of CLIs for scalability and maintainability
  • Track record of mentoring team members
  • Proven ability to set and execute a vision for projects that have hit scaling limits
  • Appetite for continuous learning and improvement
  • Deep empathy and eagerness to understand and solve customer problems
  • Proven track record of ownership and drive from idea generation through execution
  • Experience working with remote teams
Bonus Points
  • Software ecosystems that run a large number of tests, from unit to end‑to‑end
  • Database (or other large system) integration testing frameworks
  • Test fuzzing
  • TLA+ and its applications
  • C++, Java, and/or Go
  • Sanitizers and other static analysis tooling

  • Software Architecture and Design Principles
Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of large areas of testing infrastructure
  • Design and develop critical features to evolve our test frameworks and tools
  • Produce and execute strategies that reduce technical debt through iterative and strategic quality‑of‑life improvements
  • Meaningfully contribute to cohesive strategies that enable the development organization to build with confidence using the right tools
  • Mentor and grow other developers
  • Show deep empathy towards other developers to understand pain points and provide impactful solutions
  • Onboard quickly and successfully into unfamiliar tools and systems
  • Collaborate productively with colleagues at all stages of the project life cycle
Success Measures
  • Within 1 month, complete several small engineering tasks and gain a high‑level understanding of the developer experience for the Server and Cloud teams
  • Within 3 months, contribute core work to at least one feature and understand the team's mission and goals
  • In 6 months, propose improvements for developer experience and take responsibility for upcoming projects
  • In 12 months, mentor other developers and design and lead projects

Compensation

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in Canada is: $108,000—$149,000 CAD. Salary and benefits are unique to each candidate and may include equity, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully‑paid gender‑neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, RRSP with employer match, mental health counseling, backup child and elder care, and health, dental, and vision benefits.
