Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team of human health and ecological risk assessors. Our team provides site assessment and risk assessment services in a variety of sectors, including infrastructure, mining, energy, manufacturing, government, insurance, and commercial real estate. As a Canadian leader in environmental site assessments and human health and ecological risk assessments, our group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively.

Our staff of professionals includes specialists in contaminant fate and transport, risk assessment, risk management, site remediation, and risk communication. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects evaluating human health and ecological concerns associated with contaminants in the environment, identifying risk management measures and providing solutions for our clients to manage their environmental risk.

We are seeking an Intermediate Environmental Risk Assessor to join our growing Risk Assessment team to be based out of one of our Waterloo, Stoney Creek, or Ottawa, Ontario office locations.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret field and analytical data, develop conceptual site models and problem formulations, exposure modeling, and site assessment/risk assessment/remedial options report preparation in accordance with current provincial and federal requirements
  • Meet client‑based and regulatory reporting deadlines
  • Manipulate and maintain contaminant transport models, in‑house risk assessment tools, and MECP’s Modified Generic Risk Assessment model
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized and self‑motivated
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure and within short timelines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Conscientious, detail‑oriented, and disciplined approach to projects
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and critical‑thinking skills
  • Initiative in integrating creativity and efficiency into all work tasks
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain federal reliability security clearance
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Environmental Sciences (Toxicology, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, etc.), Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.

Prior experience in an engineering or consulting environment is an asset.

Five or more years of related risk assessment and/or site assessment experience.

Qualified Person for Risk Assessment per O.Reg. 153/04 is an asset.

Registration or eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO) is also an asset.

Typical office environment: working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible.
