We are looking for a Lead Project Engineer in any of our Canadian offices, with a preference for Calgary, AB; Moncton, NB; or Kitchener, ON. As a Lead Project Engineer, you will lead projects from initial concepts to detailed engineering, perform project planning, scheduling, estimating, risk assessment, proposal submission, and more.

- Plan, schedule, and estimate design engineering effort from conception to issuing construction drawings and specifications.
- Assist in proposal development.
- Prepare and/or review cost estimates, schedules, risk assessment, and project design elements.
- Develop project strategy to identify key issues early and achieve quality, schedule, and cost goals.
- Interpret project specifications and scope for all engineering disciplines.
- Review and approve all designs to ensure conformity with project specifications, project scope, company practices, and sound engineering practices.
- Coordinate with disciplines and support development of deliverables.
- Prepare and update engineering control documents.
- Monitor design changes, contract extras, and support development of change orders.
- Be the main technical contact with the client.
- Make recommendations on highly technical and complex aspects of WSP projects.
- Complete feasibility studies and technical report writing.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers in development of skills and training.
- Mentor other engineers within the project engineering team.
- Provide professional designation on projects you are engaged in.
- Develop technical drawings and deliverables such as P&IDs, Line List & DBMs, and authentication of deliverables.
- Develop Scope of Work or Specifications for Mechanical Packaged Equipment.
- Maintain quality control and quality assurance on projects.
- Review the work of others.
- Post‑Graduate in Engineering.
- P.Eng. or P.Tech. designation.
- 10–15 years of previous experience in an EPCM environment in the energy industry with 7–10 years of direct project engineering experience.
- At least 2 years experience as a Project Lead dealing directly with clients and other project stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – main client contact.
- Experience coordinating client meetings, creating project status reports, and managing diverse stakeholders and disciplines.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
- Proven independent project leader.
- Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated skills in concept and design optimization to guide sound technical decision-making.
- Knowledge of, understanding, and compliance with all client and corporate procedures.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and discretion when working with confidential information.
Salary range (British Columbia): $113,500 – $156,000. Final salary awarded may vary based on education, qualifications, certification, experience, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
