Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrical Engineer to join our team of professionals. You\'ll focus on utility-scale transmission and substation projects (>69 kV) for major clients in the Oil and Gas Industry, working on projects ranging from MOC (Management of Change) to Capital Projects.
What You'll Do- Design transmission lines (69 kV up to 500+ kV) and high voltage substations
- Conduct power system stability analysis (transient, small-signal)
- Perform load flow, fault studies, and harmonic analysis
- Design grounding grids for substations per IEEE 80
- Coordinate with utilities, regulatory bodies, and EPC firms
- Write technical specifications, test procedures, and energization plans
- Power System Analysis Software: ETAP/DIgSILENT PowerFactory/PSCAD for system analysis
- CYME for distribution and transmission modeling
- ATP/EMTP for transient studies and switching surges
Design & Protection Software:
- AutoCAD/MicroStation for substation layouts
- Relay configuration software (SEL AcSELerator, ABB PCM600, Siemens DIGSI)
- RTU/SCADA integration tools
Core Technical Knowledge:
- High voltage substations (AIS, GIS, HVDC systems)
- Insulation coordination and surge protection
- Relay testing and configuration (OMICRON, Doble test sets)
Standards & Compliance:
- CSA, ANSI, utility-specific standards
- Grid code compliance and reliability standards
- Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems
- APEGA registration required (or ability to obtain within specified timeframe)
- 5+ years of experience in high voltage electrical engineering
- Experience with utility-scale power projects and grid interconnection
- Strong knowledge of power system stability and protection
- Experience with regulatory compliance and utility coordination
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
