As we scale rapidly, we’re looking for an Engineering Manager who leads with clarity and confidence—but isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves in the code when it matters most.

Overview

This role emphasizes leadership with technical depth. You’ll spend most of your energy coaching, unblocking, and guiding engineers, while also jumping into the codebase to debug production issues or prototype proofs of concept when needed. If you want to grow as a leader while staying technically credible, this is the right path.

What You’ll Do

Technical Leadership

  • Stay close enough to the stack to make informed technical decisions
  • Review PRs, validate designs, and set a high quality bar
  • Jump into code when needed—whether it’s unblocking a teammate, debugging production, or spiking a new idea
  • Ensure our frontend and full-stack systems deliver excellent user experiences
  • Build and nurture a high-performing, collaborative team
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and coaching
  • Create an environment where engineers feel ownership and accountability
  • Help attract and hire strong engineers who share our hands-on culture

Strategic Execution

  • Partner with Product and Design to define technical roadmaps
  • Balance speed, quality, and long-term sustainability in decision-making
  • Translate vision into execution by connecting strategy with technical reality
  • Lead by example: you don’t just set standards—you live them
What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of experience building production software (frontend or full-stack)
  • At least 2 years as a tech lead, team lead, or manager
  • Current experience with modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript)
  • Strong track record of building performant, user-friendly applications
  • Excellent communication in a remote-first environment

  • You’re a leader first, but you keep your technical edge sharp
  • You’re not afraid to code when it’s the fastest or clearest path forward
  • You believe credibility as a leader comes from both guidance and action
  • You care deeply about building products people love to use

Not the Right Fit If…

  • You want a purely people-management role, away from the technical details
  • You haven’t written or reviewed production code in a long time
  • You see hands-on coding as beneath a manager’s role

Bonus Points

  • Experience scaling frontend performance and accessibility
  • Strong knowledge of GraphQL and modern API design
  • Background in design systems or component libraries
  • Passion for developer experience, CI/CD, and productivity tooling
  • Startup experience at Series A/B stage
