Opportunity

Stantec is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our highly successful water practice in Burnaby, BC. This office‑based position requires attendance at the Stantec Burnaby office five days a week and offers the chance to work on small to medium projects independently and larger projects as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and provide informal guidance to junior staff; assist in task assignment and coaching.
  • Perform structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structures.
  • Write and edit technical reports, engineering studies, and technical specifications.
  • Support construction projects with site visits and construction observation duties.
  • Coordinate design work with project team members, other disciplines, and other offices.
  • Participate in client requirement meetings and contribute to value analysis and cost estimating.
  • Assist senior staff in developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficiency in structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of structural systems, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to collaborate in project team settings and engage in creative and critical thinking.
  • Comprehensive understanding of structural engineering concepts and effective communication skills.
  • Advanced oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD considered an asset.
  • Experience with structural engineering/finite element analysis software (CSI Suite: SAP, ETABS, SAFE) preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of structural design experience on buildings and industrial structures; water experience is an asset.
  • Engineering consulting experience required.
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
  • Registered P. Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel for out‑of‑town projects when needed.
Pay Range
  • Lower Mainland – BC – Min Salary $91,800.00 – Max Salary $133,100.00

Pay Transparency: Pay ranges are provided in compliance with pay transparency laws. Final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Part‑time compensation is pro‑rated.
