We are a $7M medical device manufacturing and repair operation in Hanover, MD, with a dedicated team of 40 employees. We have been in business for 38 years. We are in a recession proof industry with a large established base of customers, and a stable work force. We operate in a ISO and FDA regulatory environment. Our location between Baltimore and Washington DC, avoids lengthy commutes into those cities.
Job Summary:
This role owns the accounting and management information functions end-to-end, and reports directly to the owner/CEO. It also requires close collaboration with department managers in Production, Marketing/Sales, Engineering and QA.

Either way, this position offers the autonomy to build processes, lead system integrations, and partner directly with the CEO and COO. You will be a key partner to the leadership team, providing the insights necessary to manage the details of our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage all AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger functions, and cash management.
- Cost Accounting: Analyze manufacturing costs (labor, materials, overhead) and repair margins to provide insights into product pricing and profitability. Work with the production team to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cycle counting.
- Financial Oversight: Prepare monthly financial packages including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow analysis, departmental budget variance.
- Management Information: Support management with requested analytical information, both routine monthly and on-demand analysis.
- Strategic Planning: Partner with the CEO & COO on financial insights and operational decisions. Lead the annual budgeting process.
- Management: Supervise a small accounting clerical staff.
- Tax: Submit corporate (non-income) tax reports. Coordinate income tax prep with external CPA firm.
- General: responsibility for HR and IT functions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting.
- Cost Accounting: Knowledge of manufacturing/cost accounting processes including inventory, WIP, BOMs and supply chains.
- Systems: Proficiency with ERP software. Crystal Reports and Excel are also heavily used.
- The "Small Business" Fit: You enjoy a friendly atmosphere, and wearing multiple hats.
Pay: $90, $130,000.00 per year
