About
The Transportation Program Assistant performs various administrative support and accounting tasks related to, but not exclusive of, transportation and transit services and programs funded with state, federal and local dollars. The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Essential Functions- Performs various customer service duties including, but not limited to, answers phone lines, schedules trip reservations and assists customers with transportation resources.
- Collects customer data to determine eligibility for the Transportation Disadvantaged program, which may include mailings, face-to-face interviews and /or telephone correspondence.
- Performs data entry into the Transportation Dispatch / Reservation software system.
- Runs and creates various data reports from software system needed for annual grant reporting.
- Performs routine office tasks including, but not limited to, ordering office and operational supplies, printing and mailing of brochures, typing correspondence, filing, and other general office duties.
- Performs basic accounting tasks, as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education, Training, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year experience performing customer service and administrative support duties.
- Experience handling telephone and in-person customer interactions.
- Basic accounting experience highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to type at a moderate rate of speed with a good degree of accuracy.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to accurately collect, verify and document information.
- Requires strong organizational skills and must be very detailed oriented.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Certificates, Licenses, and Registration
- Valid Florida Driver License (or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida), or valid Florida Identification Card is acceptable only for positions not required to drive a county vehicle.
- Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
- IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and
- IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Requires sitting most of the day.
- The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds.
- The job requires frequent balancing, and occasional twisting and reaching above shoulders.
- The job requires the completion of tasks that involves typing and fine manual manipulation.
- The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, color vision, hearing, and speaking.

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities
- All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location, and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.

**Wellness Incentive: New Hires will have the option of submitting to a nicotine test during the pre-employment physical. Those that are nicotine free will receive a $50 wellness incentive monthly applied towards their health premium costs.
