About

Manages the overall Plant efforts to assure a consistent, economical and timely flow of both raw and purchased materials to support the manufacturing efforts of the facility to meet the customer's needs and expectations by performing the following duties either personally or through subordinate supervisors and support personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Functions as a member of the Plant Staff. Manages the Purchasing, Shipping /Receiving, Production Scheduling and Inventory Control functions.
  • Manages the various scheduling techniques and personnel to provide a total production schedule which efficiently utilizes equipment and personnel to meet acceptable lead times and delivery dates to our customer base.
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing and Contract Engineering to assure that materials are on site in a timely manner to facilitate speedy and accurate parts availability to meet customer demands.
  • Develops budget and manpower requirements for the Hattiesburg Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving, Purchasing and Scheduling Departments.
  • Works with ESG Supply Chain Management to identify and qualify Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, work with Quality to set up and maintain vendor quality acceptance processes.
  • Establish and maintain Kan Ban systems to assure on demand flow of materials to the Manufacturing floor.
  • Establish and manage consignment programs for materials and blanket purchasing agreements for commodity items.
  • Manage Transportation contracts both in-bound and out-bound to assure Customer needs are satisfied.
  • Coordinate all off site inventory locations.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and inventory movement of all outside processing operations.
  • Develops and manages an aggressive Purchased Material Cost Reduction Program for both Raw Materials and Purchased Parts.
  • Responsible for on-going aggressive cost reduction efforts.
  • Adheres to the Company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
  • Responsible for driving Safety Performance in the Plant to achieve and maintain Gold Status (Goal of No Recordables / No Lost Times)
  • Responsible for performing 2 Behavior Based Safety Observations monthly
  • Ensures Safety Training is completed as required for Direct Reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

This position requires a bachelor's degree in Business Management, Accounting, or Industrial Management from an accredited university with a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in Materials Management with at least three (3) years as the Chief Materials Manger for a manufacturing facility. Previous experience in negotiating materials contracts, etc. is essential. In the absence of a bachelor's degree, a total of 15 years' experience is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises employees in the Materials Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
