Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Veterinary Receptionist to join our veterinary team. This vital role involves managing client communications, scheduling appointments, and supporting the veterinary staff with administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal handling, and pet care, ensuring a smooth and efficient clinic operation. Experience in medical collection, kennel management, and animal husbandry is highly desirable to provide exceptional service to our clients and their pets.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients warmly and handle check-in/check-out procedures efficiently
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar to optimize workflow
- Answer phone calls, respond to client inquiries, and provide excellent customer service
- Collect payments and process medical billing accurately
- Maintain detailed records of patient visits, treatments, and medical histories
- Assist with laboratory procedures, including sample collection and processing
- Support veterinary staff with animal restraint, handling, and basic animal care tasks as needed
- Manage inventory of pet supplies and ensure cleanliness of reception area
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet health concerns and follow-up care
Experience
Candidates should possess or be willing to develop skills in:
- Veterinary experience or related animal care background such as kennel experience or animal husbandry
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, critical care procedures, and aseptic techniques
- Animal handling skills including dog training, pet grooming, and animal restraint techniques
- Laboratory experience including medical collection procedures and sample processing
- Animal anatomy knowledge and familiarity with equine or other species' care is a plus
- Experience with pet care services such as grooming or pet training is advantageous
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
