The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law seeks a mission-driven, highly organized, hands-on events professional to serve as the organization's first ever Events and Programming Manager.

The ideal candidate brings senior-level event leadership experience, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is committed to operational excellence. This role oversees the planning, production, and execution of programs ranging from small educational programming to large-scale public events on Capitol Hill, corporate trainings, speaker series, university programs, and multi-stakeholder gatherings.

Reporting to the Chief Policy Officer, the Events and Programming Manager ensures all Brandeis Center events advance our mission, strengthen partnerships, and reflect the organization's values of professionalism, integrity, and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning, Production & Operations:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all Brandeis Center events, including but not limited to:

-Capitol Hill briefings and advocacy events

-Development and fundraising event

-University and campus programming

-Small-scale internal meetings and high-profile large-scale events

  • Develop repeatable processes and systems to deliver consistent, high-quality event experiences.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for event logistics, managing timelines, run-of-show documents, meeting agendas, scripts, vendor coordination, and participant communications.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to clarify event objectives and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Manage logistics including catering, A/V needs, travel, staging, security, accessibility, and facilities requirements.
  • Ensure all events comply with safety guidelines and meet standards for accessibility, hospitality, and professionalism.
  • Anticipate and resolve unforeseen issues during live events with calm decision-making and strong situational awareness.
  • Maintain accurate event documentation, operational best practices, and financial reporting.

Strategic Development

  • Build and strengthen an annual event calendar aligned with multiple department and organizational needs
  • Develop relationships with preferred vendors and negotiate contracts for event services.
  • Track event metrics and feedback to evaluate program impact and improve future events.
  • Maintain event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness while protecting quality and mission integrity.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of event management experience, preferably in advocacy, human rights, higher education, government affairs, nonprofit, or legal fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale events (100–300+ attendees) as well as intimate briefings and workshops.
  • Experience working with senior leaders, policymakers, attorneys, academics, and strategic institutional partners.
  • Proficiency with event management productivity tools (Asana, Airtable, , Cvent, or comparable systems).
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts, logistics, and vendor relationships.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and think creatively within constraints.
  • Strong commitment to the Brandeis Center's mission and values.
  • Must be based in the Washington, DC area and able to work in-office 3–4 days per week with additional evening or occasional weekend hours as required.

Salary Range:
$70,000 – $85,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
