Advisory Software Engineer

Are you an experienced Embedded Software Engineer looking to take on a leadership role in designing and developing cutting-edge systems? Join our team as an Advisory Software Engineer, where you'll drive software architecture decisions, lead process improvements, and contribute to innovative research projects. This is a senior-level position for a technical expert passionate about embedded systems and software quality.

What You'll Do

• Design, implement, debug, test, and document embedded software for microprocessors in bare-metal, embedded Linux, or RTOS environments.
• Develop and define the software architecture for complex systems.
• Create and execute unit tests, integration tests, and system tests.
• Lead and contribute to software process improvements, including source control, code reviews, design reviews, project planning, estimation, and release activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software-related field issues.
• Support sustaining engineering and corrective action activities.
• Research and prototype new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance product capabilities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in tools and development processes.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of experience in embedded software development with increasing responsibility and a proven track record of successful project delivery.
• Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ (C++ preferred) for embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with embedded development tools (IDEs, debuggers, development kits).
• Solid understanding of microprocessor architectures and peripherals.
• Expertise in software development best practices and quality standards.
• Experience in technical leadership and small project management (preferred).
• Familiarity with industry and regulatory standards for software quality (preferred).
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Bash (preferred).

Education

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).

This is a hybrid role in the Pittsburgh PA area.
