Lakeview Village is a continuing care retirement community. We have an opening for a Diet Aide to work Part Time.
Lakeview's Diet Aide provides residents with appetizing, high quality meals in a clean, sanitary environment while following their food preferences, as well as Local, State, and Federal regulations. Serves residents in a long-term care setting with sensitivity. Contributes to residents' quality of life by providing superior communal meals, optimal choices, and caring services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains the highest standards of meal quality and presentation.
- Ensures that the facility is maintained in a sanitary, safe, and orderly manner in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulations, as well as Lakeview Policy.
- Sets up and tears down the steam table for meal service in a timely manner, ensures that all food items and serving utensils needed for meal service are available.
- Serves meals according to the individually selected menu/diet of each resident, ensuring that the meal is served according to the Resident Diet Profile book. Honors residents' food preferences.
- Interacts with residents during mealtime. Makes an effort to create opportunities for residents to connect with others at meal time and try new things, while honoring the choices and preferences of each resident.
- Assists residents with setting up their meal, including opening containers, cutting food, and placing food at the appropriate place on the table.
- May assist residents who use a walker or wheelchair to maneuver around tables, chairs, or other obstacles in the dining room.
- Ensures that accurate documentation of daily operations are kept.
- Communicates with nursing staff and Registered Dieticians to report concerns, including but not limited to: resident dietary needs/changes, resident preferences, or health concerns such as problems chewing, swallowing, or an incidence of choking. Ensures that all residents are offered a meal at each mealtime.
- May be asked to push a wheel chair to/from the dining room and a resident's room.
- Provides direction and/or training to other diet aide workers as needed.
- Ensures that the Community Rooms and the Care Center kitchens are kept stocked according to par levels. Ensures that all stored foods are appropriately dated and labeled.
- Assists in preparing/setting up the dining room for the next mealtime and special holidays, as needed.
- Maintains proper personal appearance and hygiene according to established procedures for food and beverage personnel.
- Attends and participates in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as required.
- Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-department personnel and other departments within the facility, to ensure that Dining Service programs can be properly maintained to meet the needs of facility and residents.
- Ensures that Resident's Rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to express grievances are followed.
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Must demonstrate a full understanding and effective application of:
- Sanitation, food borne illness, and cross-contamination policies and procedures.
- Cleaning chemicals and other hazardous materials.
- Right-to-Know issues.
- Use of HACCP protocols.
- Proper small wares handling.
- Recipe and menu development skills.
- Departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates both precision and accuracy in completion of duties each day.
- Demonstrates good communications skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with fluent understanding of English.
- Ability to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as assigned.
- Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly.
- Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others.
