- Current Colorado teaching credentials required or proof of eligibility required
- Licensed with CDE preferred, but not required
- $176 per day or 88 per ½ day for licensed
- Minimum 4-year degree required for non-licensed candidates
- $160 per day or $80 per ½ day for non-non-licensed
- Fingerprints and Background Checks will be required for non-licensed

SUMMARY: Substitute Teachers perform the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers who are absent for a day or longer periods. Their duties include taking attendance, explaining homework, maintaining classroom cleanliness, and reinforcing school-wide discipline procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Punctual and adhere to the classroom schedule
- Maintain order in the classroom
- Follow teacher's lesson plans in sequence and fulfill all of the responsibilities as stated.
- Supervise the students assigned to the regular classroom teacher at all times.
- Be available to fill in during open planning times for other teachers
- Minimum of 5 assignments within a six month period or employment
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Colorado Substitute Teaching Authorization (three or five years) or a Colorado teaching license.
- One year substitute authorizations will be considered on a case by case basis
- 4 year degree for non-licensed candidates
- Fingerprints and Background Checks will be required for non-licensed
- Experience in working with school age children preferred.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
- Criminal background check required for hire.

- Ability to diffuse and manage stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Authorizer policies and building and department procedures.
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
- Operating knowledge of information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within 2 months after entering position.
