Our Houston, Texas facility is seeking a dedicated Receiving Clerk to join our logistics team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of all incoming goods, ensuring they are correctly documented and stored. The Receiving Clerk plays a vital part in maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting the overall flow of operations within our warehouse. Key duties include unloading delivery vehicles, inspecting goods for damage or discrepancies, verifying received items against purchase orders, and accurately entering data into our inventory system. Maintaining a clean and safe work area is a priority, and strict adherence to all safety protocols, including the mandatory use of PPE, is expected. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to perform tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with warehouse operations and basic computer skills are essential. Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from delivery trucks.
- Inspect received goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Verify received items against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Accurately record all received inventory into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Tag and label incoming goods as required.
- Stage received goods for put-away by other warehouse staff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments regarding deliveries.
- Assist with inventory control and reconciliation as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a receiving or warehouse role is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with warehouse logistics and inventory control procedures.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and data entry.
- Experience with WMS software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of workplace safety regulations and the importance of PPE.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
