Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA), reporting to the Director of Medicine and Division Head of General Internal Medicine,  will work as part of the General Internal Medicine (GIM) hospitalist team to provide care for in-patients on the acute medicine units. Working under medical directives and CPSO guidelines, the PA supports physiciansin delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. The PA's primary role is to help carry out care plans developed collaboratively with the hospitalist team.

The PA work schedule is 37.5 hours per week; rotating to weekends with lieu days during weekdays if needed.

This is a 6-month contract from the date of hire, therefore the Contract End Date noted in this posting is just a placeholder.

Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, including history-taking and physical examinations
- Collaborate with supervising physicians to develop diagnoses, treatment, and care plans
- Complete patient documentation, includingadmission notes, progress notes, consults, and discharge summaries
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., labs, imaging) under medical directives
- Participate in daily rounds to review patient progress and coordinate care
- Manage acute and chronic conditions for hospitalized patients
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and members of the multidisciplinary team

EDUCATION

- Undergraduate degree in a health-related field.
- Graduate of a Canadian or US-accredited PA program.
- Eligible to write or successful completion the Canadian PA Certification Exam (PACCC).
- Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (or application pending).
- BCLS certification.
