We are looking for a reliable and physically capable Material Handler to join our fast-paced logistics operations in Detroit, Michigan. This role is essential for the smooth functioning of our warehouse, involving the movement, organization, and storage of goods. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various material handling equipment, loading and unloading trucks, and ensuring the efficient flow of products throughout the facility. A strong emphasis is placed on safety and efficiency in all material handling tasks. You will play a key part in maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting distribution processes. This position requires the ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions precisely. Regular physical exertion, including significant lifting, will be a part of your daily routine. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Stack, sort, and stage materials for shipping or storage.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on equipment.
- Assist with inventory counts and stocktaking.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Identify and report any damaged goods or safety hazards.
- Support overall warehouse operations as directed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role preferred.
- Certification to operate specific equipment (e.g., forklift) is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and proper PPE usage.
- Good understanding of logistics and inventory control.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime if needed.
- Excellent physical stamina and coordination.
