The purpose of this role is to do repair and maintenance work for MacGregor product range, plus foreign maker cargo access and other related equipment. You will be responsible for applying mechanical theory and related knowledge to test, repair and modify operational machinery and equipment.
More tasks and responsibilities- Carrying out efficient planned and corrective maintenance and repairs, including onboard inspections of equipment, in accordance with the MacGregor
- Service Operating Principles Manual, thereby maintaining customer confidence in MacGregor
- Maintain awareness of the profitability of the Division
- Provide information and write reports as required
- Continuous development of own skills.
Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent. The position will be based in MacGregor's office in Seattle, the USA. Rotational travel to Dutch Harbor is a part of the technician's role.
What you'll need to succeedThe ideal candidate for this role is someone who is able to interface with all levels of staff and can handle confidential information. We are looking for a person with demonstrated initiative to visualize, organize, manage and complete projects in individual and group settings.
As our clients are spread across the US, flexibility and the ability to work overtime and on weekends or on call duty are part of the job. The suitable person has the ability to multi-task while completing work in a competent and professional manner.
Proven experience as a marine technician is highly desirable, ideally specializing in deck machinery or a related field, with a strong knowledge of marine vessel systems and components.
Ideally you have
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Completion of a technical training program or apprenticeship in marine mechanics or a related field (e.g., marine technology, marine engineering)
- 1+ years direct experience or internship program as a technician in marine business or similar equipment Proficiency in PC based word processing and spreadsheets
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electric and electronics
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
- Driver's license
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
