Position: Ponca Victim Services Director Immediate Supervisor: Tribal Administrator

General Description: Assists victims of Crime by working collaboratively with staff to expand efforts to meet the emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, and cultural needs of American Indian survivors through the expansion of culturally appropriate services. Director will complete monthly reports, review financial budgets, assist in grant writing, obtain letters of support, complete grant reports, and other programmatic duties assigned. Director will be responsible for strategic planning, preparing budget modifications, implement the goals and objectives of the PTVS grants. Director will also provide confidential full range of services including completing intakes, providing direct assistance and case management, assistance with compensation claims, crisis intervention, court support, case status updates, provide transportation, and complete community referrals. Director will promote health and wellness by providing education, outreach, and prevention to the Ponca Nation tribal community and citizens.
Responsibilities and Duties:
∙ Complete required monthly, quarterly, and semiannual reports or reports as otherwise directed.
∙Review financial budgets, complete budget modifications, assist with strategic planning and grant writing.
∙Implement the goals and objectives of the grant.
∙Assist with policy development and audit preparation as needed.
∙Attend all required trainings as determined by grantor and tribal administrator
∙Secure letters of support and maintain memorandums of understandings for the department.
∙Initiate contact with victims of violent crimes, complete intakes, advise crime victims of their rights and assist them at navigating through the criminal justice system.
∙On call rotation of crisis phone for a period of 7 days a week 24/7 to, provide crisis intervention and on scene or by phone to victims of crime and survivors of the tragedy.
∙Utilize formal and informal networks (faith, businesses, local, state, federal, and tribal) to outreach and increase awareness and knowledge of resources for victims of crimes.
∙Assist victim in applying for benefits including lost wages and medical expenses, assist victims with completing and processing forms, including state Victim Assistance Compensation Fund; determine victim eligibility for benefits.
∙Confer with law enforcement, attorneys, court clerk, victim witness coordinator, and Judge on the status of case, coordinate the filing of paperwork and make sure correspondence is documented.
∙Maintain client records, maintain confidentiality, keep outreach records, assist in preparing grant reports, and other programmatic documents.
∙Assist victims in fleeing from residence, shopping for emergency items, and assisting in other tasks essential to victim safety. This may include carrying and moving objects more than 50 pounds.
∙Developing, coordinating, planning, and participating in community outreach, training, seminars, support groups. This may include transporting event materials and equipment that may be over 50 pounds.
∙Ensure the smooth running of the establishment, checking on staff and supplies, paying invoices, taking mail, and problem solve any other issue that would impact service delivery or overall program effectiveness.
∙Maintain effective relationships with local, state, federal and tribal collaborative partners.
QualificationsQualifications:
∙A Master's Degree in social services, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, or other related field. Three years of supervisory experience in Victim Services of working in tribal victim services. Bachelor's Degree considered if experience is equivalent to educational background.
∙Possess knowledge of victim assistance including applicable standards, codes, laws, and regulations.
∙Work with Tribal Council on Strategic Planning for the department.
∙Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by the tribe's provider.
∙Knowledge of safety planning for victims of crime.
∙Must be able to work independently, possess critical thinking skills, balance high stress, set boundaries with clients, while managing numerous tasks simultaneously.
∙Must be able to stand, sit and walk for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds to properly perform assigned job duties.
∙Must have ability to deal with crisis-oriented situations and extreme human behaviors or reactions caused by crisis. Ability to use good judgement always, including under stressful, high pressure situations.
∙Outstanding organizational abilities and must be able to prioritize tasks based on a sense of urgency.
∙Must be a team player, get along with peers, follow chain of command, and assist coworkers when needed.
∙Thorough skills effectively working with people in crisis, choosing the appropriate action, and communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
∙Proficiency with basic information technology, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
