The Information Security Engineer (ISE) will work closely with application and cloud platform teams to provide security consulting and support while championing security initiatives on behalf of the MNIT Enterprise Security Office (ESO).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Recommend security controls, policies, and best practices to mitigate identified vulnerabilities.
  • Develop, maintain, and update system security plans (SSP's) and related documentation to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, document findings, and track remediation efforts through completion.
  • Serve as a security advocate, promoting secure coding, configuration management, and best practices across Salesforce applications and integrations.
  • Assist in incident response, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring activities.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and security assessments as required.

Additional position details:

  • This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last two (2) years.
  • This position requires an employee to be onsite at 444 Lafayette Rd, Saint Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in information security.

Experience must include:

  • Conducting risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and security reviews of applications and infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce Shield, Security Health Check, and Event Monitoring.
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT or security operations in a shared responsibility model across agencies or departments.
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Shield, Security Health Check, and Event Monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of secure software development practices.
  • Experience with Salesforce API security (OAuth, connected apps, SAML, JWT).
  • Knowledgeable of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO
  • Security and/or platform-related certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, and Salesforce Certified Administrator.
