Duties

• Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and veterinary protocols
• Handle and restrain animals safely using proper animal handling and restraint techniques, including dog training and pet grooming when necessary
• Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support clinical decision-making
• Maintain accurate records of animal health histories, treatments, and laboratory results with attention to detail
• Prepare animals for diagnostic imaging procedures like X-ray, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are followed
• Conduct dental cleanings and understand dental terminology to assist with oral health assessments and treatments
• Support pet care activities including feeding, bathing, and administering medications under veterinarian supervision
• Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal physiology for signs of illness or distress
• Perform animal catheterization and other technical procedures with precision and care
• Contribute to the team by providing excellent pet care advice to clients on topics like pet grooming, nutrition, and general health

Requirements

• Proven veterinary technician experience or related veterinary experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal physiology
• Kennel experience or background in animal husbandry is highly desirable
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, aseptic technique, and veterinary critical care practices
• Ability to handle dogs confidently using dog handling skills; experience with equine or other large animals is a plus
• Familiarity with animal anatomy knowledge to assist in various clinical procedures
• Strong animal handling skills combined with patience and compassion for animals of all sizes and temperaments
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively within the veterinary team and educating pet owners
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
