Attached is the updated job description for the PHP/ Laravel Developer role. This is a heavy Backend role. We will have front end roles coming next year, but for this I need heavy backend experience. This is for a Senior/ lead Developer who can work independently.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Engineer with strong experience in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and modern cloud-native technologies. This role will focus heavily on the modernization and migration of our existing PHP/Laravel application to a more scalable, maintainable, and cloud-ready architecture.

Responsibilities
Application Modernization & Development

• Analyze our existing PHP/Laravel application and lead the transition to a modern, cloud-native architecture.
• Re-architect legacy components into modular, scalable services (microservices or service-oriented patterns where appropriate).
• Build and maintain backend services, frontend components, and APIs as part of the modernization effort.
• Improve performance, reliability, and scalability with modern engineering best practices.

DevOps, Cloud, CI/CD, and IaC

• Design and build CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployments, and environment provisioning.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar) for consistent cloud resource management.
• Containerize existing and new services using Docker and orchestrate using Kubernetes, ECS, or similar platforms.
• Ensure robust monitoring, logging, and observability throughout the system.

Technical Leadership

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership teams to define modernization roadmaps.
• Evaluate cutting-edge technologies and propose solutions for improving developer velocity and system resilience.
• Mentor team members on best practices in software development, cloud architecture, DevOps tooling, and modern patterns.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack or Software Engineer.
• Strong experience with PHP/Laravel, including maintaining and migrating legacy codebases.
• Proven experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation).
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar).
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, or similar).
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
• Cloud experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Preferred (Bonus) Skills

• Experience refactoring monoliths into modular or service-based architectures.
• Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or similar).
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, or serverless components.
• Understanding of automated testing frameworks and infrastructure testing.
• Experience with performance tuning and high-availability systems.
