Duties
Under direction, responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled duties in the technical support of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) hardware and software; performs technical tasks in modifying, installing, troubleshooting, repairing SCADA system assets to ensure 24/7 reliability and functionality for electric transmission, energy management, domestic and recycled water pump stations, lift stations and reservoirs; and performs related duties, as assigned.
Essential Functions:

  • Maintains and supports a positive, collaborative culture within the City organization as a whole, fully embracing the cultural and values statements espoused by the City
  • Performs skilled corrective and preventative maintenance on the City's SCADA system computers including servers, radio communication systems, mobile devices, networking and other technology related equipment
  • Troubleshoots and resolves SCADA problems and assists in troubleshooting system wide issues by tracing failed functions from source to destination
  • Troubleshoots routine network and telecommunications hardware and devices including servers, routers and switches; resolves or refers to higher level staff
  • Documents work performed; develops technical documentation for support; organizes and stores all documentation on system servers
  • Programs and generates a variety of reports on system operations
  • Responds to emergency situations as necessary, including after hours support
  • Provides efficient and effective response and resolution to a variety of incidents and service requests
  • Perform SCADA system monitoring for operations and performance
  • Troubleshoots communication problems and communication media
  • Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance

Additional Duties:

  • Adds, moves, changes to network, server, workstation and/or software infrastructure
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:

  • Associates Degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, or a related field
  • Three (3) years experience in the field of Information Technology

OR

  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

  • Knowledge of information security standards and methodologies with extensive knowledge of security processes, tools and latest technologies
  • Ability to use a logical, systematic, and/or sequential approach in gathering information, analyzing data, and developing viable solutions to system problems
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and update policies and procedures relating to technology services
  • Ability to effectively maintain sensitive or confidential information
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to proficiently use the Microsoft Office software suite with emphasis in the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferences:

  • Knowledge of federal, state and other regulatory compliance including, but not limited to, NERC, TLETS, EPA, HIPPA, FCRA
  • Knowledge of VMware, Cisco, and Dell/EMC infrastructure solutions preferred

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
  • Must meet the Civilian Hiring Standards of the Denton Police Department
  • Must be able to work after normal business hours when requested
