Position Summary

The Staff Trainer in the Center for Professional Learning (CPL) plays a pivotal role in supporting the professional development and continuous learning of staff across the community college. Reporting to the Director of the CPL and working closely with the Faculty Trainer, the Staff Trainer is responsible for assessing training needs, designing and delivering development programs, and supporting college-wide initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness and staff performance.
This position contributes to fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and equity, in alignment with the college's mission to support student success through innovative and inclusive practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver training programs for college staff, including workshops, webinars, and one-on-one coaching sessions, with an emphasis on technology, customer service, leadership, compliance, and workplace effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty Trainer and Director to identify professional development needs based on institutional goals, staff feedback, performance assessments, and strategic priorities.
  • Create and maintain training materials, manuals, guides, and online resources that support continuous learning.
  • Utilize instructional design principles and technology tools (e.g., LMS, video conferencing, e-learning platforms) to deliver accessible, engaging content.
  • Coordinate and facilitate onboarding programs for new staff, ensuring a smooth and informed entry into the college community.
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and feedback, and use results to improve offerings and use institutional data (e.g., climate surveys, performance reviews, KPIs) to identify and prioritize training needs.
  • Maintain accurate training records and provide regular reports on participation, outcomes, and areas for improvement.
  • Support the promotion and communication of CPL offerings to ensure broad staff participation.
  • Stay current with best practices in staff development, adult learning, and training technologies.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives
  • Participate in college committees and initiatives that support staff development and institutional effectiveness.
  • Provide employee support and materials for system changes and integrations, policy updates and changes, and implementation of strategic initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering professional learning content.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and learning management systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build relationships with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge and skill to develop metric-based reports that assess the effectiveness of staff development activities in relation to institutional effectiveness, employee satisfaction, and retention outcomes
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the mission of community colleges.
  • Familiarity with current trends and research in staff development and adult learning.
  • Experience with data-driven needs assessments and impact evaluation in a training context.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education, human resources, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in professional development, training, or related work in an educational or organizational setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Schedule Designation:

  • Typically, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work after-hours and/or weekends.
  • This role may offer a hybrid work arrangement as determined by the Director of the Center for Professional Learning.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • The work is typically performed in an office setting.
