CDS Development is a well-established and respected leader in providing specialized consulting services to the dynamic and demanding Commercial Real Estate sector. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly skilled and strategic
Controller
to oversee our financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and provide critical financial insights that support executive decision-making.
This role is central to our organization's financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and long-term stability. The ideal candidate is both detail-oriented and forward-thinking—capable of managing day-to-day accounting functions while also shaping the company's financial strategy.
What You'll Do
- Oversee all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Payroll.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual
financial close
processes with accuracy and timeliness. - Prepare and analyze
financial statements
, management reports, and key performance metrics for leadership. - Develop, maintain, and enhance
internal controls
, accounting policies, and financial procedures. - Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Coordinate year-end
audit activities
and act as the primary liaison with external accountants. - Support tax preparation processes and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Evaluate and optimize existing financial systems; experience with BQE CORE is a strong plus.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to internal accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Advise the executive team on financial risks, opportunities, and operational efficiencies.
What You'll Bring
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required). - Credentials:
CMA or CPA designation (preferred). - Experience:
- 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or controller-level role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience in professional services or commercial real estate industries is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with online accounting systems; BQE CORE experience is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modeling.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational capabilities.
- High integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
