About

Our Production team is looking to add a Rolling Technologist  for our customers. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate who is interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector.

The Rolling Technologist is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting rolling mill processes to produce automotive-grade material that meets dimensional, mechanical, and surface quality requirements. This role works closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to improve yield, efficiency, and product performance while ensuring compliance with automotive standards. Other duties include:

  • 1. Process Development and Optimization
Responsible for the development and parameter design of battery enclosure roll forming processes, including roll design review, material selection, and process route planning.
Optimize existing roll forming processes to improve product dimensional stability, surface quality, and forming efficiency.
Develop and maintain standard roll forming process documents, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process cards, and parameter tables.

    2. Mold and Equipment Management
Participate in the design review, acceptance, and debugging of roll forming molds to ensure compliance with mass production requirements.
Lead the daily maintenance and precision calibration of roll forming production lines to ensure stable equipment operation.
Drive mold lifecycle management and optimization solutions to reduce mold wear and maintenance costs.

    3. Production Issue Resolution
Quickly analyze and resolve quality issues in roll forming production, such as dimensional deviations, surface scratches, springback, and twisting.
Lead root cause analysis of roll forming process abnormalities, and develop and implement corrective and preventive measures.
Collaborate with the quality department to address non-conforming products and drive process improvement closure.

    4. New Project Support
Participate in preliminary process feasibility analysis for new projects, providing technical input and risk assessment for roll forming.
Responsible for trial debugging of new products, completing trial reports, and promoting process standardization.
Assist in capacity planning and technical evaluation for new equipment selection.

    5. Technological Innovation and Cost Optimization
Research the application of new roll forming technologies and materials, such as high-strength aluminum and composite material roll forming.
Drive process cost-reduction projects by optimizing processes and improving material utilization to lower manufacturing costs.
Explore the application of automation and digitalization in roll forming processes, such as online inspection and intelligent monitoring of process parameters.

    6. Team Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer
Train and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and operators to enhance the team's roll forming technical capabilities.
Collaborate with design, quality, production, and other departments to ensure effective alignment between processes and product requirements.
Summarize and document roll forming process knowledge to promote technical standardization.

To be a qualified candidate you must have the following:

  • College degree or higher in Material Forming, Mechanical Design, Vehicle Engineering, Metal Plastic Processing, or related fields.
  • At least 3 years of experience in roll forming process development or production. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the automotive parts industry (e.g., battery enclosures, automotive body structural parts, profile forming).
  • Familiar with roll forming mold design, debugging, and maintenance processes, with the ability to independently resolve on-site process issues.
  • Experience in developing roll-formed battery enclosure components (e.g., side frames, anti-collision beams, battery tray reinforcement structures) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the automation integration of roll forming production lines (e.g., automatic feeding, online inspection, robot handling) is preferred.
Project management experience or participation in the full lifecycle development of new products is preferred.

Key to being successful in this role:

  • Proficient in the principles of roll forming processes, with expertise in key technologies such as material deformation behavior, springback control, and tolerance compensation.
  • Familiar with roll forming mold structure design and processing techniques, with experience in mold debugging and optimization.
  • Knowledgeable about the characteristics of commonly used roll forming materials (e.g., aluminum alloys, high-strength steel), and familiar with the relationship between material mechanical properties and formability.
  • Capable of using CAD/CAE software (e.g., AutoCAD, UG, CATIA) for simple mold design or process simulation analysis.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, able to apply quality tools (e.g., 8D, 5Why) to drive issue closure.
