Position Summary
The Receptionist position is part-time, 20 hours per week (non-exempt, not benefits eligible) and will take place at all our NLC sites. The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for clients and visitors, providing professional, courteous, and efficient front-desk service. This role includes managing incoming calls, scheduling appointments, handling administrative tasks, and supporting overall office operations. May require some local travel (reimbursable). This position is in-person.
Job Responsibilities
- Greet and assist visitors and clients in a friendly, professional manner.
- Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries.
- Schedule appointments and manage the office calendar.
- Maintain a tidy and organized reception area.
- Nandle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
- Perform light administrative duties, including filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Communicate effectively with other staff and management.
- Support special projects or office needs as assigned.
- Participates in required evaluations and audits.
- Assists with reception duties at other NLC locations upon request.
- Demonstrates New Life Centers' values.
- Attends required meetings and trainings.
- General manual labor duties such as performing physical tasks like lifting, moving, stacking, organizing, carrying materials, and maintaining a clean and save worksite.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications
- Must become a Certified Mandated Reporter. Training provided.
- Must pass a background check, must not have any pending cases.
- Must pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.
- Must pass a National Sex Offender Registry background check.
- Must have a working phone and phone number.
- One year experience working in the human services field or hospitality.
- Cross-cultural competency.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be willing to be trained and proficiently utilize database(s) and information tracking systems relevant to duties.
- Must keep confidentiality of participant/staff/volunteer information.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Valid Illinois driver's license, insurance, good driving record, access to a vehicle. Subject to driving background check.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
