Electrical Hardware Engineer
Kelly SETT, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking an
Electrical Hardware Engineer
for a multi-year engagement at one of our Global clients' Research and Development facilities in Auburn, MI
.
Our client develops electronics, embedded systems, and magnetics, used in precision motor-controlled applications across multiple global industries.

Position Overview
You will be a mid to senior level individual contributor on Mando's R&D team that develops custom electronic hardware for automotive applications. You will design, prototype and test custom electronics to the component level.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Deconstruct and combine, customer and internal requirements to specify hardware design requirements.
  • Design (or verify if reusing existing design) analog & digital electronic circuits that meet customer requirements including selecting the capacitors, resistors, IC, etc.
  • Board design & bring up using Altium
  • Test and debug circuit with the aid of customer requirements, schematic, bill of materials, PCB layout artwork, etc.
  • Develop tests (or update if reusing existing tests) to validate design to customer requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to select appropriate components and ensure supply throughout the life of designed part
  • Support calibration and EOL FFT stands and equipment
  • Research innovative and effective solutions (circuit designs, component selections, etc.) to customer requirements
  • Manage database of approved parts used across multiple projects

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 5+ years hardware design or MS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 3+ years hardware design, preferably for automotive systems (engine controls, or steering, or braking, etc.)
  • Design, Build, and Test of Electrical Hardware Design and Processor Interfaces

  • Design and develop schematics, analysis of circuit design to requirements, verification of performance to requirements

  • Power Electronics Design and Analysis of 3 Phase machines - DC to DC conversion
  • Analog & Digital Circuit design including power conversions, specifying convertors/invertors, board layout, system components.
  • Schematic Capture and Circuit Analysis Tools

  • Cadence for circuit analysis

  • Altium for PCB layout

Preferred Competencies

  • Familiarity with motors, sensors, and electromagnetics (EMI/EMC) desirable
  • Familiarity with digital communications protocols (CAN, LIN, SENT, I2C, SPI, etc.) desirable
  • Strong knowledge of Electrical Hardware and Microprocessor Architecture for automotive systems

  • Experience determining the frequencies, impedances, mosfets

  • Microcontroller programming to test hardware functionality a plus

  • Bench, Test Stand, and Vehicle debug and analysis

Additional Useful Skills/experience

  • Knowledge of Freescale, Infineon, TI processors
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 Safety Standards and Requirements is preferred
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific CAN tools and Requirements (CANalyzer, CANape Preferred)
  • Matlab/Simulink
  • Excel/Visual Basic
  • Thermal Analysis Tools, Ex. Ansys or Flowtherm
  • IPC 610 Standards Class II and III, and other applicable IPC Standards Preferred
