Job Summary
The Assistant Teacher/Floater supports classroom teachers and childcare staff by helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children. This position "floats" between classrooms as needed, assisting with daily routines, supervision, and classroom activities to ensure smooth operations throughout the center.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Support

  • Assist lead teachers with implementing daily lesson plans and age-appropriate activities.
  • Support children's learning through play, interaction, and guided instruction.
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Provide supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
  • Step into any classroom (infant–preschool) as needed to support ratios and classroom coverage.

Child Care & Supervision

  • Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other hygiene routines following center policies.
  • Help with meals, snacks, and transitions throughout the day.
  • Promote positive behavior and help children develop social-emotional skills.

Classroom Maintenance

  • Help keep classrooms clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
  • Sanitize toys, surfaces, and equipment according to health and safety guidelines.
  • Set up or reset rooms as needed when floating between classrooms.

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with lead teachers and administrative staff.
  • Step in as support during staff breaks, planning time, or when classrooms need additional assistance.
  • Maintain professionalism and flexibility when transitioning between age groups or assignments.

Family Interaction

  • Greet families warmly and maintain positive, respectful communication.
  • Report concerns or incidents to the appropriate lead teacher or administrator.

Work Environment

  • Requires frequent movement between classrooms.
  • Must be comfortable working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
  • Fast-paced, team-centered environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • 45 hours and/or CDA (Preferred)
