Job Summary

We are seeking a
SCADA / Substation Controls Engineer
to support substation automation and smart grid infrastructure projects. This hybrid role is ideal for professionals experienced in utility systems, RTU programming, and substation communications. The successful candidate will play a key role in configuring field devices, troubleshooting SCADA data, and supporting protection and control efforts across distribution and transmission networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop RTU settings for substation projects using standard templates
  • Create and maintain point assignment sheets in collaboration with substation design engineers
  • Apply network communication standards to substation SCADA systems
  • Troubleshoot data and communication issues with operators and relay technicians
  • Remotely program devices (e.g., reclosers, capacitor banks) for new installations or updates
  • Configure systems and support integration of new substation equipment into SCADA network

Requirements

  • 3–5 years
    of relevant work experience
  • Strong computer literacy and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Bachelor's degree in
    Engineering
    ,
    Computer Science
    ,
    Mathematics
    , or a related field
  • (Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a 4-year degree)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in
    Electrical Engineering
    or
    Engineering Technology
  • 2–5 years
    of experience in the utility or power industry
  • Hands-on experience with
    SEL
    and
    Eaton
    RTUs, relays, or gateways
  • Knowledge of
    distribution/transmission protection and controls
  • Experience with
    relay testing
    ,
    smart grid devices
    , and
    SCADA protocols

Work Location Requirements

  • Must be local to
    Louisville or Lexington, KY
  • Required to be
    onsite Tuesday through Thursday
    each week
  • Remote work permitted on
    Mondays and Fridays
  • Onsite presence may be required during training or critical phases
