Job Overview: As a Romer Operator in the Quality Lab is responsible for performing precise inspections and maintaining detailed records to ensure the quality and compliance of welding products. This position requires proficiency with inspection tools and technology, including the Romer Arm, and a strong understanding of ISO 9001 guidelines. The Romer Operator works closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to support quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection & Reporting: Conduct inspections using the Romer Arm, record results, and communicate findings to relevant departments.
- Documentation & Organization: Organize inspection reports, CMM data, and supplier certificates, ensuring traceable and accessible documentation.
- Quality Compliance & Auditing: Support quality lab adherence to ISO 9001 guidelines through internal and supplier audits and collaborate on corrective actions.
- Calibration & Final Audits: Perform gauge calibrations, final audits, and dock audits to ensure product quality before shipment.
- Continuous Improvement: Issue quality alerts, assist in problem-solving quality issues, and contribute to a culture of quality within the lab and across the manufacturing floor.
- Follow ISO and QMS procedures.
- Adhere to RWCI's 5 A's: Attendance, Accountability, Attitude, Aptitude, and Appearance.
- Reinforce the importance of quality on the manufacturing floor and in the lab.
- Act as a backup to the Quality Representative, providing leadership and support as needed. This role is integral to upholding high-quality standards and supporting continuous improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2-5 years of Romer Operator experience.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical exam.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, symbols, and job specifications.
- Familiarity with SOPs, WPSs, essential variables, and code compliance.
- Knowledge of GD&T; experience with Power Inspect software and CAD model manipulation.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using inspection tools (height gauges, calipers, thread gauges, etc.) and computer software (MS Office; JobBoss experience is a plus)

Tools & Equipment:
- Measurement Equipment: Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Romer Arm, and various handheld inspection devices.
- Inspection Tools: Micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other standard inspection equipment.
- Software & Systems: Proficient in PC DMIS, MS Office Suite, quality management software, and ERP systems such as JobBoss
- Various CAD file formats for inspection
- Material Handling Equipment: Hoists, pallet jacks, and forklifts/Hi-Lo(Certification needed) for moving heavy metal parts.
- PPE: Safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and protective clothing to ensure safety during operations.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly perform reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, and gripping tasks.
- Stand for long periods and operate machinery as required.
- Occasional use of computers for job-related tasks.
Environmental Conditions:
- Primarily indoor work with occasional exposure to outdoor environments.
- Frequent exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noise.
- Consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, and hearing protection.
