This is a part-time position at Humke Elementary.

This position involves working under the general direction of a special education teacher, providing supervision and individualized services to students with disabilities. Duties are expected to include supervision and assistance to students in both regular education and special education settings; the specific schedule of activities will typically vary over time, depending on individual student needs and class schedules. In addition to routine classroom activities, responsibilities may include toileting, diapering, feeding and assisting with other self-help skills, implementation of behavior management plans, and other individualized assistance to students. An ideal candidate will possesses the following characteristics:

  • Certified or willing to become certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
  • May require physical requirements- some walking, moving, running, carrying, bending, kneeling.
  • Must have the ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Participates in the implementation of IEP goals for the purpose of meeting IEP goals and/or district benchmarks
  • Participates in the implementation of student behavior plans for the purpose of ensuring effective and safe student learning.
  • Stress Tolerance – Deals calmly and effectively with high stress situations
  • Personal Hygiene- Must be comfortable with toileting, showing and other hygiene needs.

Qualifications:

Because of the potential need to assist students in many different classroom settings, the individual assigned to this position must be capable of effective collaboration with teachers and support staff throughout the building. Demonstration of successful experience working with children, including evidence of ability to work effectively with children with special needs, is required for this position. Evaluation of the qualifications of applicants will include consideration of previous employment in a similar assignment and any education or training which may be applicable.

The Nekoosa School District is a Pre-K – 12 public school system located in central Wisconsin, which serves students in the city of Nekoosa and townships of Armenia, Port Edwards, Rome, and Saratoga. Our district serves 1,250 students within its four buildings.
