Position Summary:

The Communications Manager will apply art, design, and copy layout skills to create visually engaging concepts such as logos, promotional and branding materials, communications media, and other print and digital materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Works within the existing web software to ensure all design features, links and pages are relevant and working.
  • Recommends, seeks approval and implements modifications to the website that enhance usership, based on data and feedback from stakeholders.
  • Provides ongoing site maintenance, updates, and support.
  • Collaborates with "client," editorial staff, department managers, and/or other project participants to understand project assignment, audience, tone and intended message.
  • Creates original visual media that communicates the desired feeling and/or message in an engaging and unified way, representative of the brand standards for the department/ organization.
  • Chooses graphics, clip art, and stock photography, as appropriate; enhancing the selections to further develop the theme and message.
  • Selects fonts for written copy; produces sample layout for approval by clients or other project participants.
  • Prepares drafts of design work and provides samples to editorial or other appropriate staff or departments for review.
  • Revises projects as necessary based on collaborative feedback process.
  • Consults with the Director of Member Engagement, other Departments Heads and/or other team members as needed for complex or specialized projects.
  • Prepares print orders and assembly instructions on notification of final approval.
  • Maintains records of project time, allocated by project.
  • Pulls required information from departments based on the operating calendar, and offers regular project updates, ensuring productivity standards and communications plan standards are met.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and/or other similar design software.
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently on assignments
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of the team
  • Ability to hold others accountable for key deliverables, including information required to perform the work.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, and can be substituted with significant experience and validated portfolio; major or significant coursework in art, graphic design, or related disciplines highly preferred.
  • At least three years of related work experience highly preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
