Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineer

Loadmaster is a rapidly growing national manufacturer of refuse trucks with customers all over the country. Our customers include major municipalities and hauling companies who rely on Loadmaster equipment every day.

We are seeking a Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineer to support both product design and manufacturing processes from concept through production. This multi-role position will involve designing structural, hydraulic, and electrical systems for refuse equipment while also driving improvements on the shop floor, supporting production teams, and optimizing manufacturing methods. The ideal candidate is hands-on, collaborative, and capable of working across engineering and manufacturing functions.

Essential Job Functions

Product Design & Engineering

  • Create design, production, and final product documentation using SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Design structural components, hydraulic systems, and electrical layouts for refuse truck bodies.
  • Work with vendors on key component selection, documentation, and technical reviews.
  • Prepare, conduct, and analyze testing to validate product performance and durability.

Manufacturing and Production Support

  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes, routings, fixtures, and work instructions.
  • Provide engineering support to the production floor, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, welding, and assembly teams to improve manufacturability and reduce rework.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Assist with change management, including ECOs, BOM updates, and documentation control.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
  • Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, electrical circuits, or mobile equipment a plus.
  • Experience with FEA or simulation tools preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Hands-on mindset and willingness to work on the shop floor.
