We are seeking a talented
Senior Data Engineer
to collaborate cross functionally with team members to design and optimize large-scale data structures, unify data from diverse sources, and create reliable pipelines that power insights across the business. In this role, you'll work with Azure storage environments, databases, healthcare data systems, and more to centralize information for teams ranging from Commercial and Operations to Medical Affairs and technical/scientific teams. This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the Senior Director of Data and AI, offering the opportunity to shape how data drives the Company's growth.

Essential duties
include, but are not limited to:

• Performing all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, and code development & testing
• Designing and implementing product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders and colleagues
• Creating relevant metadata, data structures, dependency, and data transformation
• Contributing to the architecture of the system, taking responsibility for the quality and stability of the product by getting hands-on with code and design reviews, debugging
• Writing documentation and unit tests
• Developing and automating data pipelines, cleaning and prepping data
• Implementing infrastructure for storing company-wide data
• Designing dashboards in BI or front-end applications

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience as a data engineer in a company with complex big data sources
• Experience building/operating data pipeline, performing ETLs of large data sets / Experience with Databricks / Experience in organizing unstructured data and data streaming / Experience working in a production environment / Experience documenting pipelines / Experience with BI such as PowerBI, Tableau

Preferred
experience:

• Experience building GUIs / working with Commercial, Operations, Biological data / Experience communicating with internal and external clients / Experience working in a HIPAA and IRB compliant fashion / Experience with pipeline/workflow management tools: Airflow, Nextflow, etc. / Solid organizational skills and attention to detail

Education
required:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, IT/IS, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or related technical field with 5 years of total data engineering experience
• An unrelated degree combined with extensive programming experience will be considered
• Experience with Database Architechture, Design, and Management

Travel Requirement:
as often as quarterly overnight travel required for company events or meetings at HQ (Irvine, CA)
