Job Summary:

The Solutions Engineer is responsible for the development optimization, and implementation of engineering solutions within the organization. This role involves designing warehouse layouts, driving process improvement initiatives, and engineered labor standards. The Solutions Engineer ensures that all solutions align with company objectives while enhancing efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness across supply chain and operational functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic design and layout planning of warehouse facilities to maximize space utilization, throughput, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that warehouse designs meet the needs of inventory management, order fulfillment, and other operational goals.
  • Ensure that warehouse designs are scalable, adaptable, and able to accommodate evolving operational requirements.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements, new technologies, and best practices.
  • Work closely with operations and logistics teams to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to drive continuous improvement (CI) projects and improve overall operational performance.
  • Develop and maintain engineered labor standards to accurately determine workforce requirements and performance benchmarks.
  • Analyze work processes and create time studies to establish optimal labor standards and improve productivity.
  • Lead the development and documentation of process maps for various warehouse and operational workflows.
  • Analyze existing processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend warehouse management systems (WMS) and process improvements.
  • Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, simulation software, and process mapping software to visualize and optimize workflows.
  • Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional growth to enhance team performance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, IT, logistics, and supply chain teams, to define project requirements and scope.
  • Present engineering solutions and project proposals to senior leadership and customers providing detailed analysis and justification for design choices.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful execution.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, automation solutions, and software to enhance warehouse operations.
  • Lead the integration of these technologies into existing workflows and ensure that they support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor the success of solutions engineering projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in solutions engineering, warehouse management or operations engineering
  • Proven track record in warehouse layout design, continuous improvement and engineered labor standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MHE Solutions, simulation software and process mapping tools.
  • Expertise in process mapping, optimization, and the use of simulation tools and software.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain operations, automation, robotics, WMS and labor management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies.
