An established manufacturer of specialist equipment is expanding its engineering team and is looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong 3D CAD and sheet metal design experience. This business designs and manufactures their machinery in-house, producing fully custom solutions for customers across the UK and internationally. As part of a wider international group, the company offers long‑term stability while maintaining a collaborative, close‑knit engineering environment. Why consider this role? Full project ownership – from concept through to build Manufacturing completed in‑house – see your designs come to life Supportive engineering culture where ideas are valued International customer base with a UK‑focused design team Early finish Fridays (1 pm) The Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll take ownership of multiple projects, producing detailed designs for specialist machinery with a strong emphasis on sheet metal components and mechanical assemblies. You’ll work closely with production, assembly, and commercial teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and delivered on time. Key responsibilities include: Designing specialist machinery, equipment and components using 3D CAD software Producing detailed fabrication, sheet metal and assembly drawings Supporting builds and resolving design issues during manufacture Liaising with internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle What we’re looking for: 2+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor) Proven experience in sheet metal and machinery design Background within a manufacturing or engineering environment Familiarity with PDM (Product Data Management) systems Practical mindset with strong attention to detail Seniority level
