Eden Valley Poultry Inc. is seeking a Building Maintenance Manager to join our team. You will be reporting to the Chief Power Engineer. As a Building Maintenance Manager, you will oversee the structural and operational integrity of the facility. As a processor of chicken and turkey for our Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island farmers, Eden Valley Poultry is unique in the industry. Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of four building maintenance staff.
  • Budgetary responsibilities within the Engineering Cost Centre
  • Perform regular inspections of the building and its systems to identify and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Identify and implement preventative maintenance requirements for building and basic equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and building expenses for reporting purposes in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage general building repairs and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, install, and repair plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
  • Complete building audit requirements.
  • Manage, coordinate, and monitor contractor activities for projects including monitoring contractors onsite for safety practices and best practices.
  • Provide information (e.g., contractor quotes) related to the completion of business cases for board approval.
  • Manage external contract cleaners.
  • Monday to Friday, weekend and after hours work as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience required in building management or maintenance, including experience in a leadership role.
  • Working knowledge of workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation.
  • Work experience related to building maintenance (e.g., electrical, carpentry, millwright, plumbing).
  • Advanced knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Team-player with excellent leadership skills, able to motivate others, negotiate effectively and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities.
