Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Chemical Engineer with a PhD to join our dynamic R&D team on a part-time basis (approximately 20-25 hours per week). In this position, you will lead the development and optimization of novel material formulations, focusing on hybrid composites and functional coatings. Your expertise will drive innovation in material properties such as durability, adhesion, and performance under various environmental timeline, at the intersection of renewable energy and advanced materials science.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Design and formulate advanced material systems, including binders, fillers, and additives, to achieve targeted physical and chemical properties.
  2. Conduct experiments on slurry preparation, curing processes, and surface treatments to evaluate and improve material performance.
  3. Analyze material characteristics using techniques like rheology, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing to assess factors such as flexibility, resistance, and optical qualities.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineers and scientists) to integrate materials into prototypes and iterate based on testing results.
  5. Develop and implement scalable processes for material synthesis and application, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  6. Document research findings, prepare technical reports, and contribute to patent applications as needed.
  7. Stay abreast of emerging trends in chemical engineering and materials science to inform project directions.

Qualification Requirements:

  1. PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
  2. 5+ years of post-PhD experience in R&D, preferably in composite materials, polymers, or inorganic-organic hybrids.
  3. Proven track record in formulating and testing slurries, emulsions, or coatings, with hands-on lab experience.
  4. Strong knowledge of material characterization tools (e.g., viscometers, spectrophotometers, tensile testers) and data analysis software.
  5. Expertise in additives like coupling agents, reinforcements, and modifiers for enhancing material properties.
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in team settings.
  7. Familiarity with sustainable material practices and regulatory standards is a plus.
