Summary:
Performs duties associated with the operation of Special/Interventional Procedures and Diagnostic Radiology; in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures.

Graduate of an accredited program in radiological technology required
Must be licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE) and certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
. Completed American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Minimum experience of two years as a registered Radiologic Technologist with two years minimum experience in Special Procedures preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Positioning and turning of patients.
- Lifting of patients utilizing proper body mechanics.
- Ability to respond to and withstand frequent crisis situations.
- Works the assigned schedule including call as required.

Responsibilities:

b. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment used for Interventional Radiology and intra-procedural imaging.

i. Contact the Interventional Radiology Supervisor/Manager for equipment service issues as appropriate.

Performs visual preventive safety inspections. Identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor.
Departmental Workflow: Consistently maintains departmental workflow of the departments within Diagnostic Services ensuring maximized productivity and efficiency.

- Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all equipment within the Interventional Radiology department.
- Performs all procedures. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and administers contrast media according to the department policy and procedure manual. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the scans.
- Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.
e. Ensures all equipment is in good working condition.
Customer Relations: Consistently maintains an attitude of cooperation, clear communication, mutual respect, and courtesy to all patients, visitors, team members, medical staff, volunteers and students.

f. Modality Specific Duties:
a. Performs all Special Procedures as assigned. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and utilizes ACR guidelines to obtain properly positioned images. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the images.
b. Assists physician/PA in Special Procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
c. Performs visual preventive safety inspections on all equipment. Identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor.
d. Assists in the movement of patients as necessary.
e. Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures and administers first aid or BLS (CPR& AED) as needed.
f. Primarily responsible for post-procedural hemostasis. Must be able to assist and deploy vascular hemostasis devices.
g. Responsible for assistance in vessel selection, catheter and wire techniques, and be familiar with all catheters, guidewires, and any other medical device that may be used.
h. Works in Diagnostic Radiology during Interventional downtime.
