Construction Crew Chief

HER Home Design BUILD is seeking an experienced Construction Worker with Crew Chief responsibilities to join our growing team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can both perform skilled trade work and lead a small crew on residential and light commercial projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Construction Work

• Perform hands-on construction tasks including framing, drywall, painting, flooring, trim, and general carpentry
• Assist with jobsite setup, material handling, and daily cleanup
• Safely operate hand and power tools
• Read and follow plans, drawings, and scopes of work
• Maintain high quality standards and attention to detail

Crew Chief Responsibilities

• Lead and direct daily work for assigned crew members
• Assign tasks and manage workflow to meet project schedules
• Serve as on-site point of contact with Project Manager or Operations
• Monitor jobsite safety and enforce safety protocols
• Communicate daily progress, issues, and needs to leadership
• Help train and mentor less experienced crew members
• Maintain a professional, respectful jobsite (clients, neighbors, partners)

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in residential and/or light commercial construction
• Prior experience leading or supervising a crew
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, tools, and materials
• Ability to read blueprints and job plans
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Reliable, punctual, and accountable
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically able to perform construction tasks (lifting, standing, bending)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Crew Lead or Crew Chief experience
• OSHA certification
• Experience with sustainable or eco-conscious building practices
• Alignment with HER's mission to empower women in the trades
