About
About the Company
Our client is an early-stage, venture-backed AI startup. Their platform blends workflow automation, financial operations, and integrations. The core challenge is building a reliable, intelligent AI engine that handles messy real-world data and processes at scale.
If you love organizing teams, architecting solutions, and working with founders who care deeply about quality and impact, this Engineering Manager role may be a fit for you.
The Role
We're looking for a
hands-on Engineering Manager
who has deep technical experience to mentor and guide a high-performing team. While most of the work is people management related, you'll spend a significant portion (up to 30%) helping to architect, especially in the early days. You'll be shaping the engineering culture and helping to hold a high bar with interviewing and people development.
This is a role for an
actively technical

Python (FastAPI)
,
React
,
Postgres
, and
AWS - Architect reliable, scalable backend services and data workflows with Staff Engineers
- Guide, mentor, and raise the bar for a small but high-talent engineering team

RAG
, LLM-powered automation, and workflow intelligence - Shape engineering culture, processes, and technical standards from the ground up alongside the founders
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of engineering experience
, including technical leadership or project ownership - Hands-on startup experience
at a VC-backed, YC, or other high-growth tech company - Strong coder with deep experience in
Python backend
work and comfort across the full stack - Experience shipping production systems on
AWS
and owning real-world reliability - Demonstrated ability to lead projects end-to-end and influence product direction
- Interest in (or direct experience with)
AI/LLM systems
, especially retrieval-augmented workflows - Bonus: experience managing or mentoring engineers in small teams
Why Join
- You'll shape the technical DNA of a rapidly growing AI company
- Massive ownership over architecture, features, and engineering culture
- Work directly with founders and early team members
- Competitive comp + meaningful early equity
- High-talent, low-ego team focused on shipping real value
