About
Seeking a Software Engineer for a full-time position with benefits. This is a contract position with potential for direct hire. The position is to support a DOD project. US citizenship is required. The location is Houghton, MI.
You will perform embedded software development tasks, including software design, development, verification, validation, and integration on a ground vehicle platform. You will be a part of a cross-functional team under the guidance of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop embedded software for ground vehicle and power management systems
- Work in an agile software development environment, including documentation
- Manage developed code within a collaborative environment using industry- standard tools and participate in software reviews
- Perform bench and vehicle-level verification and validation of the integrated software
- Assist in producing client-focused documentation for project status and project deliverables
- Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work
Skills Required
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work under constrained timelines, prioritize work, and take the initiative to solve problems
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team of system, electrical, and mechanical engineers on prototype vehicles
- Capable of effectively communicating across cultural boundaries and working harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff
- Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work
Skills Preferred
- Design and simulate complex systems in MathWorks tools for SIL
- New Eagle Raptor development tools and libraries
- Programming in C/C++, Python
- Utilizing Vector CAN tools (e.g. CANalyzer, CANoe) for bench test, data gathering, software verification/validation
- Utilizing Vehicle Spy software and/or hardware for logging, analysis, or troubleshooting of vehicle control/systems issues
- Experience with CAN logging, analysis tools
- HIL/SIL bench testing and/or design
Knowledge of, or experience in implementing, any of the following:
MIL-STD-3017
ISO-26262, MIL-STD-882, IEC61508
ROS, DDS-based communication/control systems
MISRA C/C++, MAAB Guidelines
Education Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Work Experienced Required
- At least three years of experience in embedded software development for vehicle propulsion and/or onboard power generation.
- Proficiency in developing embedded software using MathWorks/Simulink.
- Demonstrated experience in software development aligned with the essential duties and responsibilities outlined.
- Familiarity with tools such as Git, Jira, MATLAB/Simulink, and standard office productivity software suites.
Work Experienced Desired
- Software development and integration for power and energy management with vehicle electrification, electrical power generation, and export.
- Experience with New Eagle Raptor software development tool set for embedded control.
- Operation and control of off-road wheeled vehicles
- Automotive or ground vehicle systems
